This Privacy Policy explains what information Behov ("we", "us") collects, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Behov website and apps (the "Service").

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

Account & contact info: your phone number (used as your sign-in credential and to send one-time verification codes) and/or email address.
Profile info: username, name, bio, title, skills/services, rates, business hours, licenses, education, certificates, experience, social links, and a profile photo.
Content: listings, portfolio photos and videos, reviews, messages, and community/forum posts.
Location: the location you set for your profile or searches (see Section 3).
Payment info: if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are handled by our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers.

Information collected automatically

Device and usage data such as IP address, browser/app type, pages and listings viewed, and saves/clicks.
Cookies and local storage used to keep you signed in and remember preferences (see our Cookie Policy).

2. How we use your information

To create and manage your account and verify your identity via one-time codes.
To operate core features — local search, profiles, listings, messaging, reviews, and the community feed.
To connect Explorers/Clients and Creators/Experts based on skill and location.
To process subscriptions, referrals, and billing.
To protect the Service from fraud, abuse, and security threats (including rate limiting).
To improve the Service and, where permitted, send you relevant notifications.

3. Location data

Location is central to Behov, which matches people by skill and proximity. We store location primarily as approximate map coordinates for your profile or search. You control whether your location is shown publicly using the location-privacy setting on your profile; when set to private, your precise location is not exposed to other users. You can update or remove your location at any time in your account settings.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:

With other users: your public profile, listings, and content are visible to others as part of how the Service works. Your phone number and email are not shown on your public profile.
With service providers: vendors who help us operate Behov, such as SMS/verification providers, hosting, and payment processors, under contractual confidentiality obligations.
For legal reasons: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and property of Behov, our users, or the public.
In a business transfer: as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

5. Cookies & similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you logged in (including a secure, HTTP-only session cookie) and to remember preferences. See our Cookie Policy for details.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information unless we are required to retain it.

7. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can edit most information directly in your profile, or contact us to exercise these rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including not exposing login credentials (phone/email) on public endpoints and rate-limiting sensitive actions. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Behov is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
